Overview - Budapest is a city known for its thermal baths. Its location along a fault line has produced the occurrence of natural hot springs. The Turkish occupation of Budapest left a rich culture of public bathing and a slew of bath houses that have remained. Today, we’ll explore the best of Budapest’s bath scene, including both grandiose and small bath houses.
Breakfast - Since you’ll be spending most of the day in water, I would not recommend a heavy Hungarian breakfast. Instead, opt for a coffee and a pastry at one of the local coffeehouses that line the streets of Pest on your way to the first bath house.
Morning - Király Baths is one of the oldest Turkish bath houses in Budapest, in existence since the 16th century. The bath itself is neither beautiful nor posh – it is a place to go and enjoy the waters in a very local, traditional way.
