Overview - Once the capital of Japan, Kyoto is filled with temples. We take in a few: Silver Pavilion, Daitoko-ji, and Ryoan-ji.
Breakfast - As always, breakfast is a bit of a challenge in Japan if you want a "western" breakfast. I'd suggest the cafe at the Hotel Granvia at Kyoto Station. Especially if you didn't have time to explore the station when you arrived, it's a great place to have a look at 'new kyoto' before you head into the heart of unchanged Kyoto.
Morning - There are several must-see temples, beginning with the Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku-ji.) Don't be afraid to explore the areas around the temple, the little roads will fill you with surprises, including small tofu shops and an abundance of coffee shops. At the end, head to the center of town and visit the old castle, Nijo. There are tours hourly.
