Awesome Detours in San Jose, California - 24-Hour Travel Guide
Breakfast - Breakfast in San Jose is an anytime thing - at least with me and my friends. There's a little spot at 599 S Bascom Ave called Mini Gourmet. Mini Gourmet is packed 24 hours a day because you can get a good breakfast, a healthy lunch, or a hearty dinner anytime you're craving them and at about the same price you would pay for the imitation food at Denny's. The service is excellent and the waitresses can easily spot a traveler and give you the respect and courtesy of a regular. Savor your food and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere because after breakfast will be childlike fantasy trampoline heaven!
Morning - A five mile jaunt NE takes us to 2880 Mead Ave in Santa Clara that brings us to a place called Jump Sky High Sports. Have you wondered what it would be like to fill a warehouse wall-to-wall with trampolines? Same here! Pick up a wristband and jump away! This place completely drains me of energy in a couple hours, is unique experience and one of my favorite detours! You might break out a sweat and want to head back to the hotel to shower off before you head off to lunch.
Lunch - I have a mighty appetite after Jump House, and considering our next destination is the The Tech Museum let's stop at an adjacent burger joint by the name of Peggy Sue's. I have eaten here many times, it's cheaper then Johnny Rockets and better tasting too! Located at 185 Park Ave in San Jose, it is a cozy eat-in joint that has it's walls littered with diner-age flare. The chili fries are amazing, and so are the milkshakes but never combine the both! The price tag for eating here is 8-15$. You might want to find a place to park your car for the rest of the day as the rest of our detours are within walking distance from each other.
Afternoon - Now we have had our fill and bounced away in the land of trampolines let's take a relaxing excursion to 201 South Market Street. It's a San Jose favorite - The Tech Museum of Innovation! The first thing about this place you will probably notice is the giant plastic encased pool ball maze. After you are through being hypnotized by it's workings grab your tickets and head on inside. Mostly aimed at kids this is still a fun experience for people of all ages. After you are through getting lost in mazes, mystery and didja know style science let's grab dinner at one of my favorite places to eat - The Sonoma Chicken Coop!
Dinner - Located at 31 N Market St in San Jose it is a favorite of travelers and residents alike and is almost always packed during late lunch hours. Never fear - even though the place fills to the brim it is one of the fastest restaurants to get food at in San Jose. It's 10-15$ and the portions are satisfying! Chicken Cheddar & Avocado Sandwich is my favorite and could be yours too. Another amazing thing to note about this place is you can ask for a slice of pizza as a side order. It's a great place to eat delicious food!
After Dark - There are so many ways to go in San Jo' when it comes to after dark! Maybe you are a sports fan and want to catch a Sharks Game at the Shark Tank(also known as the HP Pavilion). You could also catch Christmas in the Park if you make your jaunt in December which would be in the park right outside of The Tech Museum, no directions or tickets necessary! However, for the up and coming as of this writing the HP Pavilion located at 10 Almaden Blvd in San Jose is hosting the Ringling Bros. and Barnum Bailey Circus! What a perfect end to a fun filled day!
Sleep - Now that we have trampolined to a wobble, massaged our brains with widgets and seen lions and tigers oh my your probably pooped! Luckily the Hotel De Anza is very short walk away from the HP Pavilion. It's a bit pricey but if your going to go to San Jose, you gotta stay here at least once. Located at 233 West Santa Clara Street it is one of the oldest hotels in the San Jose area. Rooms are around 150$, and get cheaper if you do a little searching to see what events are taking place. They constantly have promotional offers and they knock 20-40 bucks off of their rooms. I hope you enjoyed your detours in San Jose!
