24 hours of Metropolis in London, England
Overview - London is a sprawling metropolis, covering an expansive area and offering tourists a number of wonderful experiences. 24 hours is barely enough to scratch the surface, but here is for trying.
Breakfast - Grab it to go. London is a busy place, and you have a busy day ahead. No time to linger!
Morning - Start off the day at Saint Paul’s cathedral, London’s answer to the Vatican. Then head across the river and enjoy Tate Modern, one of the favorites in the Tate museum family. Most museums in Britain are free, Tate Modern included, but you will have to pay for any special exhibitions.
Lunch - Have a grilled cheese in the Borough Market. Simple, easy, delicious.
Afternoon - See for yourself how expansive London is with a trip up the London Eye. This is no ordinary Ferris wheel – you will enjoy the round-trip in a comfortable viewing ‘pod’ where you can have a seat and relax, walk around, or even order a champagne service. Nearby is a near endless list of must sees: Westminster Abbey for a wonderful sense of history and architecture; the Palace of Westminster, Big Ben and Tower Bridge, arguably the most iconic London symbols known worldwide; Buckingham Palace, home of the queen.
Dinner -
Pop into Circus ( 1 Upper James St) where you will have French cuisine that is almost better than in France. If French is not your thing, then just order some pub grub somewhere – shepards pie, steak and ale pie, or fish and chips are classic British and delicious.
After Dark - Hang out in the hustle and bustle of Trafalgar square. London pubs, despite being in a huge city, still have that old world feeling.
Sleep - The Marriott Marble Arch (134 George Lane) is well situated not far from Paddington Station and offers good value for money.
