Art in Florence, Italy - 24-Hour Travel Guide
Overview - It's all about art in Florence. Start at the Uffizi, head to the Pitty Palace, and end at the Piazele Michelangelo.
Breakfast -
Start your day with pastry and the best cappuccino at Patrizio Cosi. A pasticceria that is loved by those who know Florence, all the pastries are fresh and yummy. Please don't order Starbuck's flavored cappuccino's in Italy, as it does it makes us look bizarre to the Italians.
Morning - Spend a leisurely morning at the Uffizi. There is enough to see and take in here that you could spend an entire day, and feel free to do so. However, there is something to be said about being discriminating and only taking in a bit of art at a time.
Lunch - Head to the Sant'ambrogio Market for lunch. Again, this is a place much loved by those who spend lots of time in Florence. Have a Panino for lunch, and now, it's time to remember that you don't order cappuccino in the afternoon. Why? You just don't.
Afternoon - In the afternoon, cross over the Ponte Vecchio and enter the Pitty Palace Gallery and gardens. The building was designed by Brunelleschi, and the galley has an impressive collection of art. The gardens are a great example of the Renaissance taste. You and your partner can imagine that you once lived in the old Medici home are are now generously letting the peons visit.
Dinner -
My favorite restaurant in Florence is the Hosteria dei Benci. Like most Italian restaurants, it opens for dinner at 8:00 pm, and has a fabulous menu. Try their Spaghetti in Red Wine dish for an unforgettable taste. Leave room for dessert.
After Dark - At night, take a walk at the Piazale Michaelangelo. The view of the city is magical, and it's quite a romantic little spot as well.
Sleep - Hotel degli Orafi is a very neat place. It is originally a 13th century monastery, and has great views of the city. There's a special experience sleeping in a place that holds so much history. It also has easy access to the the Uffizi.
